Claude connector

Reverse image search in Claude

Claude can describe an image, but it can't search the web for other copies of it, so it can't tell you whether a photo is on Getty Images or who owns it. Add Trace Any Image as a connector and it can.

Or try it here first: drop an image in the box.

3 free traces a day without an account; sign in for 20 a month.

Add the connector

  • Claude (web, desktop and mobile): use the Add to Claude button at the top of this page, or add a custom connector in Claude's connector settings with the address https://traceanyimage.com/api/mcp. Then sign in to Trace Any Image when Claude asks.
  • Claude Code: run claude mcp add --transport http trace-any-image https://traceanyimage.com/api/mcp, then /mcp to sign in.
  • The same account works on this website: 20 free images a month, or Pro.

Things to ask

  • "Where is this image from?" with an image address.
  • "Is this photo a Getty or Shutterstock image? I want to use it on our blog."
  • "Check the images on mysite.com for any I might need a license for."
  • "Watch mysite.com and tell me when new images need checking." (Pro)

Images attached to the chat

Files attached to a Claude chat don't reach connectors. When you have a file rather than an address, Claude gives you a private upload link: open it, choose the image, and Claude traces it. In Claude Code, Claude can upload the file for you.

claude mcp add --transport http trace-any-image https://traceanyimage.com/api/mcp

Questions

What does Claude get back?

The verdict (paid stock found, free source found, widely published with the owner unknown, or not found), the pages behind it, Google's guess at what the image shows, and a report link you can share. Claude never tells you an image is safe or free to use.

Does it work in ChatGPT?

Not yet. Use the website, which works on its own.

Are photos of people listed?

A photo of a person gets a verdict, but the pages it appears on aren't listed: Trace Any Image isn't a people search.
